Digital Macrophotography of a Fish

TPA personnel maintain a complete macrophotography and gross photography capability for the documentation of gross lesions noted at necropsy. Images captured using either the stereo microscopy system or the gross photography system can be copied to the Spectrum Image Database discussed in the Virtual Pathology Microscopy System section.

Scanscope

Since the purchase of the Aperio ScanScope System (Aperio Technologies, Inc., Vista, CA), the TPA Team has been actively involved in the process of methods development for evaluation of IHC stained sections by digital imaging. Aperio has provided several algorithms such as the Nuclear Algorithm that counts brown (immunopositive) and blue (immunonegative) nuclei; and the Positive Count Algorithm that allows evaluation of immunostaining intensity, proportion of positively and negatively stained area, etc.
